Are blackout blinds the same as room darkening blinds?

Not exactly. Blackout blinds block all light, while room darkening blinds reduce light significantly but may still allow some glow through the fabric.

Can blackout blinds help with temperature control?

Yes. The thick material of blackout lining in our blinds provides insulation, helping to keep rooms cooler in summer and warmer in winter. This can contribute to energy efficiency, helping to regulate room temperature and potentially reduce heating and cooling costs.

Are blackout blinds good for bedrooms and nurseries?

Do they reduce noise?

To a degree. While not soundproof, blackout blinds can help muffle outside noise due to the denser weight of their blackout lining and interlining. The multiple fabric layers absorb sound vibrations which may make a slight difference in how much you can hear.

Can your blackout blinds be fitted to uPVC windows?

Yes, our blackout blinds can be fitted to most window types, including uPVC frames. We recommend that you fit our blinds to the wall space above and around your uPVC window to avoid the uPVC itself. And if you’re unsure, our team is happy to help advise you on the best solution for your space.

Do you offer made-to-measure blinds for windows that don't follow the standard rectangular shape?

We're particularly good at making bespoke blinds for those tricky windows - arched, angled or circular - you name it. Our team will walk you through the measuring process, making sure you get a perfect fit that not only looks great but blocks out the light like a pro.

How do blackout blinds compare to curtains when it comes to light blocking?

Luxury blackout blinds have a clear edge over even the thickest curtains when it comes to cutting out the light - and it's all down to the way they fit against the window frame. With no gaps to speak of, they shut out the light a lot more effectively than curtains, which can let a bit of light in around the edges unless you're willing to get out the heavy drapes. 

Our blackout roller blinds, in particular, are precision-cut to fit your window and can even be fitted with side channels to eliminate virtually all light. They take up less space than curtains so they're perfect for smaller rooms or places where you're going for a minimalist look.

Are blackout blinds safe for kids' bedrooms?

We take child safety very seriously when it comes to our blackout blinds.You can have them fitted with things like cord cleats or even chainless mechanisms to get rid of any hanging cords altogether.
