(1) Defined as fabric with a thickness and colour-fastness suitable for soft furnishings use, with eco-friendly credentials, and a typical RRP of £30 or more.
(2) Other brands will use a lower quality thin synthetic interlining, or aren’t able to make interlined curtains because they are machine-made.
(3) Sometimes known as DB4 blackout lining, known for its durability, excellent drape and soft finish.
(4) Pleated heading size is adapted to suit the overall length of the curtain for a balanced effect; linings are chain stitched to avoid bunching and give a smooth finish, corners are mitred and weighted in line with traditional manufacturing practices. 95% of curtains available online are machine-made, which results in visible stitching, bag lining (which causes the sides to roll) and a poor drape.
(5) Fullness determines how much volume is in the curtains and how deep the pleats are. Lower fullness is commonly used to reduce fabric quantity and cost, but gives you a thin and flimsy finish.
(6) Most online curtains will be folded into a box. Wherever possible we will ‘dress’ the curtains into their pleats, iron out as many creases as possible, and securely tie and package them so that they arrive in pristine condition, allowing you to simply hook into place and admire.
(7) Pair of curtains, 200cm wide x 220cm drop, using a £30 per metre face fabric. Prices checked on 6th August 2025.

(1) Defined as fabric with a thickness and colour-fastness suitable for soft furnishings use, with eco-friendly credentials, and a typical RRP of £30 or more.
(2) Bonded blackout lining combines interlining and blackout lining for a stable and precise finish. Other brands will use a lower quality thin lining, or aren’t able to use interlining because they are machine-made.
(3) Handmade roman blinds will have hand stitched sides and hems, as well as rod pockets featuring stab stitches only (little pin-like stitches holding the blind layers together). Machine made blinds have a visible line of machine stitching running at regular intervals all down the blind, which allows for pinhole lines of light leakage, and an unattractive finished effect.
(4) Even hand finished roman blinds can feature visible velcro stitching on the heading. We hand sew our velcro heading, ensuring a stitch free finish, which elevates the blind quality.
(5) The calculation for pleat sizes is adapted to suit the overall length of the blind, and we will always ensure a neat blind that sits flat and in place whenever possible. The blind folds should not kick forward in a concertina fashion when raised, unless by design.
(6) Our roman blind mechanisms are made from 0.9mm gauge powder coated aluminium, with robust lever arm brackets and unique top quality childsafe technology. Our metal chains come with a breakaway cog system that means cleat fixing to the wall is not necessary, allowing for easier and smoother blind operation.
(7) Flat fold roman blind, 110cm wide x 120cm drop, using a £30 per metre face fabric. Prices checked on 6th August 2025.
