Our gorgeous window wear is traditionally handmade to order right here in our workshop, and we use blackout lining and interlining across our range to create a sumptuous, tactile finish.  We are a little different from your average curtain maker, so here’s how it works.

1. Choose your design

From crisp folds to elegant pleats, our range of curtains and blinds is meticulously curated to ensure you can only make good choices.

Perfect for any type of room, you won’t need to worry about construction as all our window wear (apart from our Slubby Sheer) is blackout lined and interlined. This gives you a luxurious and tactile finish, and helps your room stay cool in summer and warm in winter.

What is blackout lining and interlining?

Blackout lining is a double thickness lining attached to the back of your curtains or blinds, which creates near-darkness at any time of the day. It also has excellent thermal and sound blocking qualities, making it a fantastic solution anywhere in the home.
Interlining is a thermal layer that is inserted between the face fabric and the lining of your window wear.  It is the secret to all truly great looking curtains and blinds - it adds thickness and weight, making your window wear feel full, tactile and luxurious. The most modest fabrics can be made to look knockout by adding interlining, and the most expensive fabrics can look flimsy and disappointing without it.
The blackout lining and interlining that we use is premium quality and cotton based, woven in the UK, and in a soft neutral off-white tone.

Why do you make your curtains and blinds in size increments?

Over 30 years of creating entirely bespoke ‘made to measure’ curtains and blinds for windows of every shape and size imaginable, we discovered something amazing. Over 80% of the work we completed fell into just 20% of the sizes. It turns out that the majority of windows and rooms are a similar size.
A trick that curtain makers use is to take advantage of the walls around and above a window to install curtains and blinds. Having slightly larger window wear has the effect of making the room feel bigger, but also means you don’t need pinpoint size accuracy - so for example a blind could be 5cm longer or shorter and you simply adjust the installation height to achieve a perfect looking finish. By applying these 5cm and 10cm increments, we take the pain and panic out of measuring, whilst sill ensuring you get a stunning result.

Are your curtains and blinds expensive?

Although our prices are higher than other online brands, these big retailers use low quality fabrics, linings and manufacturing standards to meet the lower price points, which in turn can reduce the lifespan of your drapery.
We’ve instead chosen to focus on ensuring exquisite quality at the best possible price.  By putting you in control and cutting out the need for multiple home visits at inconvenient times of day, we’re able to create beautiful handmade curtains and blinds, with sumptuous linings and interlinings, in premium natural and eco friendly fabrics, resulting in unrivalled value for money. In fact we are confident that when compared on a like for like basis we cannot be beaten on price.

Does your hardware come with brackets and fixings?

All our hardware comes with the right brackets, rings or runners, and finials wherever relevant.  Our curtains and blinds weigh between 3kg and 30kg, so choosing the right kind of screw and rawlplug for your wall type is essential, which is why we don’t supply screws.  You can find tips on the best screw types in our Fitting Guides.

Are your blinds child safe?

All our blinds comply with the UK 2014 Blind Cord Safety Regulations, and include features such as quick release chain cogs, pop out plastic clips, and spring loaded toggles. These features mean you do not anchor your blind chain to the wall, making operation safe and easy.  For maximum safety we recommend ensuring blinds and blind chains remain out of reach of infants at all times.

Do you work with customer own material (COM)?

We will absolutely work with COM through our Bespoke service.
