Tradition in Every Turn
Good curtain poles do more than hold fabric. They hold a legacy. Each one is shaped from solid wood or metal by skilled British makers, with careful turning and hand-finishing. This way, we ensure they stay strong and beautiful for years to come. It’s the kind of quality that becomes part of your home’s story.
Choosing the Perfect Curtain Pole or Rail
Finding the right curtain poles or curtain rails is all about finishing your space with style and purpose.
From sleek metal designs that give a modern edge to warm wooden poles, the right choice can completely transform a room from head to toe. Plus, with quality fixings and timeless finishes, you’re getting both substance and style in one neat package, making curtain envy a real thing since… well, forever!
Consider the weight of your curtains, the strength of your brackets, and the finish that best complements your décor. Eyelet curtains often work best with a 28mm diameter curtain pole for smooth gliding, while heavier fabrics may need sturdier support and extra brackets.
FAQs
What materials are your curtain poles made from?
Our wooden poles are made from Ash which comes from Forestry Commission responsibly managed forests in the UK. Our metal poles are made from high grade mild steel in the UK. All the finishes are then hand-applied, for the most premium look and long-lasting durability.
Can I order a custom length?
Our poles come in 10cm size increments to match the curtain widths available in our range. However, if you would like a bespoke size, then just get in touch.
Do they come with brackets and fixings?
Yes, each pole comes with wall brackets so you’ll have everything you need to get set up, and our online installation guide will take you through the whole process. You can also contact us anytime if you have any questions or need help.
What kind of curtains can these poles support?
Our curtains weigh between 10kg and 30kg. Our poles are designed to work with any of our designs. Good quality fixings are essential so make sure you use the right screws and rawlplugs for your wall type.
How much bigger should a curtain pole be than the window?
A curtain pole should generally extend 20-40cm beyond each side of your window frame. This allows the curtains to be drawn fully open without blocking natural light, and also gives the appearance of wider windows. If you have thicker curtains, consider extending the pole a little further to ensure smooth stacking and an even more spacious look.
Should curtains touch the floor?
Whether curtains should touch the floor depends on the style you want to achieve. For a crisp, tailored look, they should just skim the floor. If you’re aiming for a more luxurious, relaxed feel, allowing them to “puddle” slightly on the floor can create a softer effect. Always factor in shrinkage for natural fabrics and measure carefully before installation. If you need any advice, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our friendly curtain twitchers!
