How to Measure Curtains for Bay Windows
The trick to having gorgeous bay window curtains is having a perfectly fitted track or pole. Our Bay Metal Pole is shaped at the foundry to match the unique angles of your bay.
You don't need to worry about the shape or angles of your bay when it comes to selecting your curtain measurements.

Width - this is the amount of space from left to right that your curtains will cover.
- Measure each section inside your bay window from left to right, including any wall space, and add them together.
- Round down to the closest Width match on the website. You can also use this measurement when selecting your pole or track.
If you already have a pole, measure it from left to right (not including the decorative ends) and then round up to the closest match on the website. Make a note of how many rings you have and let us know.

Drop - this is the size from the top of the curtains to the bottom.
- Measure the length of your window from top to the bottom (A), from the bottom of your window to the floor (B) and from the top of your window to the ceiling or coving (C).
- If measurement C is less than 15cm, then floor to ceiling curtains will work best, with a track fixed to the ceiling.
If you are using a Pleat Track, measure from floor to ceiling and then subtract 3cm to find your Drop. Round up or down to the closest Drop match on the website - if you round down then your curtains will have a larger gap at the bottom, if you round up then your curtains will puddle on the floor. - If measurement C is more than 15cm, then floorlength curtains will work best, with a wall mounted pole or track.
Add together measurement A and B, and half of measurement C (you want the top of the curtains to sit about halfway between the top of the window and the ceiling). Round up or down to the closest Drop match on the website. Double check it fits your space, and if you are using a Pleat Track or Pole, make sure there’s a minimum of 10cm left above so there’s room for the hardware.
If you already have a pole or track installed, measure from underneath the rings or runners to the floor, and find the closest match on the website.

Curtain Hardware
- Select your pole design, choose the length that matches the width of your curtains, and proceed to checkout.
- On receipt of your order we will send you a diagram to complete with the shape and angles of your bay window. Make sure you use a ladder or step to measure the part of your wall that's above the window, as the angles in a bay are often different at the top and bottom.
- The diagram requires you to measure diagonally over the bay, so make sure you have an extra pair of hands to help. You can also use a digital angle finder.
- Send over your completed diagram and a photo of your bay window, and our team will then take care of all the calculations needed to achieve a perfect fit.
